About
Built for the way spoken work actually becomes useful.
Strandweave is a private Mac app for turning meetings, interviews and working sessions into reviewed, reusable project memory.
Why Strandweave exists
Client calls. Research interviews. Coaching sessions. Planning meetings. Founder updates. Strategy conversations. The problem is not just recording them. The problem is what happens afterwards.
Raw transcripts are too long. AI summaries can be too quick to become "the record". Meeting bots are visible, cloud-centred and often built around someone else's workspace. Notes get scattered across documents, chat threads, inboxes and memory.
But useful insight rarely comes from one clean source. It emerges when fragments are joined together well: the interview, the decision, the follow-up action, the client context, the previous meeting, the thing someone said three weeks ago that suddenly matters now.
Capture the source. Review it deliberately. Connect it to the work it belongs to. Then turn it into context you can actually reuse.
Local-first by design
Strandweave starts from a simple constraint: your recordings and transcripts should stay on your Mac by default.
The app records from your Mac, runs transcription locally using the bundled Whisper runtime, and stores your session records on your device. You decide what to keep, what to edit, what to approve and what to export.
It also supports a more deliberate review workflow. When conversations involve sensitive data, vulnerable groups, client commitments or decisions that may be relied on later, the record should not be treated casually. Strandweave is designed to help you keep track of what has been captured, reviewed, corrected, approved and exported.
Explicit product operations such as licence validation, update checks and optional AI provider use are handled separately. Where external services are used, they should be intentional, visible and under your control.
More than transcription
You can edit transcripts and speakers, add highlights and notes, review summaries, check actions and decisions, group sessions by project, search across your library and export structured context when you are ready.
For deeper work, it might mean project hubs, decision logs, weekly reviews, Obsidian notes, AI Context Packs or read-only local agent context for tools such as Claude Desktop, Codex or other MCP-capable workflows.
The boundary is deliberate: Strandweave helps prepare better context. You stay responsible for review, approval and use.
Made for independent professionals and sensitive work
Strandweave is built for people who need more than automatic meeting notes.
It is for consultants, researchers, evaluators, coaches, founders, charity-sector operators, project leads and Mac power users who need a private, reliable way to carry context across conversations.
It is especially useful when the conversation is sensitive, the work spans multiple meetings, or the output needs to be reviewed before it becomes part of your project record.
Made for Mac
Strandweave is a native macOS app for macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
The default transcription runtime is bundled with the app, so the core workflow does not require a separate cloud transcription account.
Who makes it
Strandweave is made by Lee Robinson, an independent UK-based consultant, strategy and insights professional, and developer.
It grew out of practical work helping organisations connect evidence to strategy, performance, service design and decision-making. Lee's background spans business psychology, research and insight, analytics, data science, service design, charity-sector leadership and senior management of multidisciplinary data and insight teams.
Strandweave brings that same idea into the everyday reality of spoken work. It is built for the moments when conversations contain useful evidence, commitments, decisions and context, but only become valuable when they are reviewed, connected and carried forward carefully.
It also reflects experience working with sensitive information, vulnerable client groups and high-trust professional settings. In those contexts, capture and synthesis are not just productivity problems. Consent, review, correction and control matter.
The aim is to give spoken work a cleaner path into your notes, judgement and knowledge system.
